WHAT IS THIS RESOURCE?
SLAM IT! is a fast-paced, high-engagement classroom game designed to transform retrieval, revision and consolidation into a competitive whole-class challenge.
Students work in teams to answer questions from a mixed-ability question grid. Each team is assigned a different coloured sticky note. When students know an answer, they write it, SLAM IT onto the board and claim the square for their team. But there’s a catch — the teacher monitors answers and removes any incorrect sticky notes, opening the square for another team to steal.
This is not just a “fun filler” activity. It is a flexible retrieval strategy that helps you:
- Strengthen retrieval of prior learning
- Consolidate key concepts and content
- Identify misconceptions in real time
- Increase participation and accountability
- Differentiate questioning and challenge
- Encourage collaboration and discussion
Simply edit the question grid, project it onto your board, grab some sticky notes and play.
