High Impact Classrooms: Turning Engagement into Achievement

Presented by Powerful Partnerships in collaboration with High Impact Classrooms

Are you looking for practical ways to increase student engagement without compromising academic rigour? High Impact Classrooms: Turning Engagement into Achievement is a highly practical, evidence-informed professional learning day designed to help educators create classrooms where students are engaged, know what they are learning, understand what success looks like and have the tools to achieve it.

Designed for primary and secondary teachers, middle leaders, instructional coaches and school leaders, this full-day workshop moves beyond engagement for engagement’s sake and explores the classroom practices that connect purposeful engagement with improved student outcomes.

The Agenda

• Strengthen assessment literacy by exploring practical approaches to learning walls, proficiency scales, success criteria and A exemplars that make quality and expectations visible to students.

• Prioritise reading across the curriculum using mentor texts, explicit reading routines and high-impact strategies that strengthen comprehension, vocabulary and access to curriculum content.

• Build stronger writers through explicit success criteria, modelling, feedback and visible learning practices that help students understand how to improve.

• Gamify learning with purpose by exploring a practical continuum of gamification — from simple five-minute lesson enhancements to challenges, classroom games, escape rooms and fully gamified units of work.

• Turn ideas into action with strategies, structures and examples that can be adapted immediately across different year levels, learning areas and school contexts.

More than a day of professional learning

This workshop is designed to be highly practical and classroom-ready. You won't leave with pages of notes and a list of things to create when you get back to school. You'll experience the strategies as a learner, unpack why they work, and leave with practical ways to implement them in your own context.

• Primary and secondary classroom teachers
• Heads of Department and middle leaders
• Instructional and pedagogical leaders
• Curriculum leaders
