About Me
Hello, I'm Ash!
I’m a high school teacher, English Head of Department, instructional leader and the face behind High Impact Classrooms.
I’ve spent more than a decade teaching and leading across Australia and overseas, in rural and metropolitan communities and across vastly different school contexts. Those experiences have shaped one of my strongest beliefs: great teaching isn’t determined by postcode.
I’m passionate about creating classrooms where high expectations and high engagement go hand in hand — where students understand what they’re learning, why they’re learning it and what success actually looks like.
My work centres around assessment literacy, explicit teaching, visible learning, reading and writing, purposeful gamification and curriculum design. As a teacher and middle leader, I’ve had the opportunity to take these practices beyond my own classroom — leading curriculum reform, building faculty-wide systems and supporting teachers to strengthen their practice.
That’s really where High Impact Classrooms came from.
A desire to bridge the gap between research and reality — taking evidence-informed practice and turning it into practical strategies, resources and systems that actually work in real classrooms.
Today, I work with teachers and schools across Australia through professional learning, digital products, consultancy and 1:1 pedagogy coaching, while continuing to teach and lead in schools myself.
Because I believe the best professional learning doesn’t just give teachers more ideas.
It gives them the clarity, tools and confidence to put those ideas into practice.
Thanks for being here!
